Bank of China's New Salary Foreign Exchange Experience: Tap Your Fingers, Send Funds Worldwide
During his lunch break at an international school in Xi’an, Khair, a teacher from Pakistan, used Bank of China’s mobile banking app to convert part of his RMB salary into US dollars and remit it to his hometown. In the past, such a transaction would have required a visit to a bank branch.

“I just completed the transaction on my phone when I thought the exchange rate was favorable—it’s as convenient as online shopping,” Khair said with a smile. Previously, foreign professionals like him had to bring a series of supporting documents to the bank counter every month to exchange their salary, a process that was both time-consuming and labor-intensive. Now, that scenario is becoming a thing of the past.
This transformation is attributed to the"Convenient Salary Foreign Exchange" service launched by Bank of China Shaanxi Branch. Addressing the pain point of foreign individuals having to submit repeated documents monthly, the service adopts a model of"one-time verification, long-term validity, and online self-service," significantly improving the efficiency of transaction processing. Foreign individuals or their employers only need to submit identification documents, employment contracts, income certificates, tax certificate, and other materials at any Bank of China branch during the initial application. After the materials are verified and the agreement is signed, they can handle foreign exchange transactions through the mobile banking app at any time within the annual quota without re-submitting documents. Employers can also handle the application uniformly for multiple employees, realizing centralized management and individual self-service operation.
Mr.GU, the person in charge of human resources at the school, deeply feels the benefits:"In the past, we had to assist foreign teachers in preparing paper documents every month. Now, we only need to submit the materials once during the signing process, and all subsequent procedures are completed independently by them on their mobile phones, which greatly reduces our workload."
Mr.LYU, a senior executive at a real estate company in Xi'an, has also experienced the convenience of this service. He needs to remit part of his salary to Hong Kong every month. Now, as long as it is within the personal foreign exchange purchase quota, he can handle the transaction through the mobile banking app at any time."Submission at any time, instant processing—efficiency is extremely high," he said.
"The core of this service is to move the verification link forward. Through one-time verification, compliant applicants are granted the convenience of independent operation in subsequent transactions," an official from the Personal Financial Services Department of Bank of China Shaanxi Branch explained."It truly practices the concept of finance serving the people."
For Khair, such convenience allows him to work and live in Xi'an with greater peace of mind."Life is getting more and more convenient, and I like China even more," he said.
As Shaanxi continues to promote high-level opening-up and attract global talents, Bank of China, relying on its professional advantages in foreign exchange business, is taking practical actions to optimize the regional business environment and support cross-border professionals in settling down and living comfortably in the province. The launch of the Convenient Salary Foreign Exchange service is a vivid microcosm of Shaanxi's financial opening-up and service upgrading, continuing the story of mutual growth and two-way dedication between the city and talents from around the world.
